1 Don't follow the beaten path: join a relatively small organisation, but one where your contribution is unique.
2 Become a big fish in a small pond: go and work in another country for five years and learn another language.
3 Find a mentor and a mastermind group: consult them regularly and hold yourself accountable to them.
4 Never listen to people who say, "I wouldn't do that if I were you!" or "You'll never be able to do that!"
