REDUNDANCY - DISASTER OR OPPORTUNITY?

REDUNDANCY - DISASTER OR OPPORTUNITY?

If redundancy happens to you, you will probably go through what we call a SAD reaction, not 'sad', but the three reactions 'Shock', 'Anger' and 'Depression'.

Some of these feelings may be mild; most people go through them - but that's the point - 'go through' does not imply a permanent state!

'Shock' usually lasts for around 24 hours.
'Anger' typically takes about a week to subside.
'Depression' gradually takes over your life unless you act!

Indeed, 'action' is the certain cure for all three reactions.

Focus on the future: define that future - in writing and define what you want from that future - in writing.

Now use all your energy and activity to make it happen.

Say to yourself, "I'll focus on what I am on the way 'to' not on what I am going 'through'!" - and make it sound like a rhyme.

We've been advising people facing redundancy for over 30 years, so if it happens to you and you'd like to talk about it please get in touch confidentially.
